Pearl launches integrated web-based event management software
18/02/2008 - Bristol-based software company, Pearl, have been steadily adding to their range of integrated web-based business tools over the past few months and the latest addition, events management, is now online.
The on-demand system is accessed entirely using an internet browser, requiring no software to be installed on the user's home or office computers. All data is stored for the user on the secure Pearl servers, ensuring that the user only has to manage the information and not the technology required to support it.
Pearl software allows the user to create subscribers, calendars and events, reminders, tickets and bookings all with easy to use screens, from wherever there is an internet connection. Events can be set up so that administrators and subscribers are automatically notified by email and/or text message of any changes to the event, with the notification emails being designed using the powerful Pearl template editor. Multiple templates can be set up so that the user can brand each event as required, and only show relevant fields in the update emails.
With the added functionality of Pearl's most popular tool, the e-commerce module "PearlCart", selected events are displayed on the company's public website calendar, allowing visitors to book places for events, view event notes and amend their personal information.
What makes Pearl event management different from other software is the way that it is integrated directly with web based CRM, office management, accounting, stock control, email, e-commerce and all the other tools in the Pearl business suite. A business needs only one system and one database to manage their entire operation.
Divene Anderson, Pearl's UK Sales and Marketing Manager, says that it is a logical progression from the existing functionality. "We have extended the internal company staff calendar and task structure to create a complete public facing event management and booking system. It's a great addition to the already powerful features of the Pearl Office package".
With it's web based administration, the Pearl system is attractive to small business owners who may be working from multiple locations as well as to larger companies who may require simultaneous access by multiple users in different offices, Anderson adds.
Software as a service (SaaS) is a new software delivery model that is becoming more popular for both customers and suppliers. Annual software upgrades are no longer required, the customer can run all the software using a standard spec PC or Mac with no machine-specific installation requirements, and the data storage is dealt with by the software supplier as part of an ongoing monthly fee.
Chris Tanner, Managing Director of Pearl comments: "In the past 12 months we have seen a huge number of companies realise the benefits of SaaS. Now that fast, reliable internet is commonplace, the shift of IT networking and storage requirements onto the supplier's shoulders means that the user can get on with managing their information whilst also having access to a more secure, robust server and backup system than they could otherwise afford if it was managed in-house. The added benefits of total systems integration take our clients' business efficiency to a whole new level".
