Pearl will allow you to create a complex and comprehensive category tree. Categories are used to organise your website pages and/or to organise your products and services.

Click Products->Categories or Website-> Categories from the main menu to view your category tree. Every active category will show a link on the website menu.

Demo: Create a category

1. Go to Products->Categories. Add a new category from the home page by clicking the new subcategory icon . Give the category a name and a title, enter a description and save.
2. Click the grey image icon by the category in the list to upload an icon for it. Upload any GIF or JPEG from your hard drive (less than 600kb) and Pearl will resize it according to the options set at Setup->Website.
3. Activate the category by clicking the green tick icon, and view it on the demo site at http://demo.thisispearl.com.

Categories should either contain other subcategories or products, never both.

A category can be created and previewed using the preview icon before making it live.

An inactive category can still be viewed on the website by typing the URL directly, but it will not appear in any menus. Active products in an inactive category can still be found using the product search box on the website.
