Merging contacts in Pearl CRM (De-dupe)

It's quite likely that you will end up with two different entries in the system for the same person. Each record may have it's own set of quotes, notes, and history.

Pearl allows you to merge (or de-dupe) these contacts, which will bring all the information onto one contact.

To de-dupe, or Merge contacts

  1. Show the contacts that you want to merge in the contact list screen
  2. Ensure that the "target" contact is at the top (you can use any of the columns to change the sort order of the list)
  3. Select two contacts maxmium
  4. Tick "Merge" from the left hand menu
  5. Submit

What happens when you merge contacts?

The second contact information will be sucked into the first, only where there is no data in the first contact. In the instance where there is conflicting information, nothing will be overwritten (which is why you need to make sure that your target contact is at the top).

So if both contacts have a different lead source, the lead source from the top contact will be the one that is used.

Everything that used to be connected to the bottom contact will be pointed at the top contact, and then the bottom contact will be deleted.

All tags are merged, and the email/telephone of the second contact will be inserted as 2nd or 3rd email on the top contact record.
